Dinner Demo with Pamela Fong

Last day to register is Friday, May 2, at 5:00 PM

”….Painting is a passion of mine…sometimes it's an obsession and sometimes it's pure meditation. It feeds my soul, my everlasting spirit, and nurtures my everyday life. To the eye of the beholder, it sets the communication of my visions. Appreciating the passion in the work, you as a patron, will share with this artist a moment in time together.”

Pamela Fong has been painting for over 50+ years. Born and raised in Sacramento, California, where she gained her Bachelor of Fine Art Degree from California State University, Sacramento. She studied for her Master of Fine Arts’ Degree from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena and now resides in Thousand Oaks, California. Her works have graced many public and private collections and she has won numerous awards throughout the country. Her paintings are contemporary and she uses bold brushstrokes, colorful patterns, in her often lively, even exuberant images. Pamela has developed a method of blending Asian historical graphic subjects with abstract art, resulting in a style that is uniquely her own. Adding to this diversity, her latest paintings are with mixed media: incorporating textures, ink, rice paper, gold leaf, and acrylic paints on canvas or on paper.

Dinner and Demo with Nancy Davidson

Nancy Davidson is from Santa Barbara and, not surprisingly, specializes in coastal paintings. While growing up she spent a good deal of time at the beach, not realizing then how the backdrop of her youth would become even more important later in life.

Young artists tend to draw and paint what they love and for Nancy that love was horses. Her early pencil drawings of horses for family and friends gradually turned into an actual business doing the same for galleries and catalog companies. Over the years and through various outlets her prints have sold in the thousands nationwide.

In the early 1990’s Nancy was invited to show her large scale oil paintings of horses at the Peppertree Ranch Art Show hosted by Bob and Irma Eubanks. Started in 1978 it became arguably the most prestigious show of its kind in western America. It was there that Nancy became acquainted with another artist, Ralph Waterhouse and his wife Diane, owners of the Waterhouse Gallery in Santa Barbara. Nancy consistently sold at the Peppertree until its last show in 2008.

After the Peppertree closed Nancy decided to expand her subject matter and started painting local landscapes. They were immediately well received and won her several blue ribbons in quick succession. In 2012 she entered the Santa Barbara Art Walk. Her beach painting was awarded first place by the judge, none other than Diane Waterhouse who invited her to show at the gallery. Thirteen years later Nancy is still showing there today.

Nancy and her husband John live in Santa Barbara and have two grown sons and two grandsons. Balancing family life with her creative life, Nancy has always maintained her desire to simply produce good work. Step by step, her art has evolved into a life-long journey.

Dinner and Demo with Anette Power

Last day to register is Friday, August 29, at 5:00 PM

Anette's bio:

Award-winning artist Anette Power credits her mom, who also paints, and growing up on an island off the Swedish coast for providing a childhood full of creative exploration and a love for the outdoors. After immigrating to the U.S., Power spent more than a decade working in animation, fine-tuning her sense of light, color, and mood as a background painter for studios like Disney, Warner Bros., Cartoon Network and Universal. Power now paints full-time and some favorite subject matters include light-filled scenes, classic cars, and ordinary moments. She maintains a working studio in Newbury Park, CA, and is an artist member of the California Art Club.

Artist Statement:

“Painting on location to capture what I see is a gift because it provides an opportunity to be very present. I also work in my studio in order to explore a more personal interpretation of what I see. Slowly searching to find that sweet spot between abstraction and realism. I love the draftsmanship and depth in realistic work, but I’m also drawn to the flatness and shapes found in abstraction. The process of art-making keeps me continuously challenged and excited to do more. I see my artwork as a love letter to living, and my record of what it means to be here.”

Dinner and Demo with Scott Kiche

Last day to register is Friday, October 3, at 5:00 PM

Scott Kiche is a contemporary artist from Los Angeles. His work ranges from traditional realism to Surrealism. The artist was born in Guatemala in 1974, and, at the age of five immigrated to the U.S with his family. Like many artists Kiche's journey in art began at a very early age. His natural talent along with the encouragement of teachers and family helped to create in him the commitment to become an artist. Some of the masters who have influenced his work are René Magritte, Salvador Dali, and Diego Velazquez. However, his work is almost completely influenced by Surrealism. He enjoys the vast vocabulary and expressive freedom that surrealism offers. He has exhibited works in Mexico City, Virginia, Washington D.C, Maryland, Chicago, Los Angeles and Austin, Texas. His work was on tour with the realism guild in a two-year traveling museum exhibition that explores the current state of realism in the 21st century. He also has received awards in several group shows and magazine publications.

Dinner Demo with Regina Lyubovnaya

Last day to register is Friday, October 31, at 5:00 PM

Regina will demonstrate how to paint a dog with expressive eyes.

People often say to me "Oh, you are so talented!", and I think to myself no - "I am just so lucky and damn stubborn!"

I was not one of those children who are born with a brush in their hands.  Art didn't really interest me till I was 15 years old. My family decided to immigrate to the U.S. and I had a year of high school left to finish.  But my dad offered me to take private painting classes.  How could I say NO and so my art journey began. A year later, we moved to Los Angeles and I found myself attending a high school with no English. Art became my favorite class since I didn't need to speak.

I knew that I wanted to be a traditional painter, but 30 years ago traditional training was hard to find and so my path  lead me through many schools and places - Loyola Marymount University, Art Center College of Design, Florence Academy, Italy and Student League in New York.   All of these schools and still I felt  in a fog of confusion till I got lucky and met David Leffel, a master painter who became my guide for the next seven years. David often said "Painting is logical and therefore it's learnable."  I really wanted to learn, and with great stubbornness I painted a few hundred bad paintings before something started to shift.

Every artist has its own journey, mine was long. Every day I feel lucky to be painting, to be learning, to be discovering .
