JUNE SEELEY, Photography

Artist Statement
The winning of a raffle for PHOTOSHOP lessons on a fantastic cruise of the Greek Isles in 2006 led to the rekindling of my enthusiasm for photography.

Having my own camera readily available to capture the unexpected rainbow, the solitude of a glorious sunset, or the lucky moment of capturing 9 surfers on the same wave at a popular Southern California surfers beach, my works reflect the landscapes of my life.

As an author of a children’s time travel book in 2008 based in the historical New York neighborhood where I grew up, I utilized photography and watercolor landscapes by my grandfather to illustrate the book. From my grandfather’s watercolors, I learned how to compose a scene and create landscapes that are timeless. My 1959 sunset photo over wooded cliffs fit very well in the 1776 chapter of the book.

My goals are to continue to travel to new places with my husband that we haven’t explored as yet and to have fun with my photography.
